Removing an Opossum from Under the Shed or Porch
Opossums love finding somewhere to hide, nest, and relax. There are plenty of places they can go, but one common location is your property. Under your shed or porch are great options for them, offering everything they need.
When they have everything they need, you have a problem. The opossum is not going to want to move on its own. It is going to want to stay where it knows it is safe and has what it needs to survive.
You will have constant trouble so long as it is there. Physically removing the opossum from under the shed or porch is not possible, either, and you certainly do not want to trap it in to die. You need an effective method of removal.
Removing the Opossum
Opossums are easy to remove. They respond well to trapping, counting for most removals from properties.
So long as you place and bait the trap well, you should see great results. The opossum is going to follow the bait, go into the trap, and set it off within a day or two of it being there.
Typically, it will have the babies with it or the babies will follow and stick with the mother. If they have babies and you do not see them with the mother, you can check their hiding spot to see if they are there. You will want to remove them all together.
Relocate the opossum somewhere it will not bother you. They are just as easy to relocate, so this process should take no time. Find a good place, open the trap, and let it go.
After the Removal
With the opossum gone, your next step is to secure the property. The opossum got in there somehow and you have to figure that out. If you already know, great. If not, begin looking.
Look for signs of where the opossum could have entered and look for holes in the area. Look for anything that could be an entry point.
So long as such an entry point exists, opossums and other animals will continue to use it. Seal it up so that no other animal can and will enter. It is the best solution for your property.
When an opossum gets under your shed or porch, removing it is not going to be a difficult task. With some time and good placement of traps and bait, you can remove that opossum quickly.
